Congratulations on your new promotion! You have moved from technician to supervisor (or manager) and your new path has begun to form. You are an excellent technician and have done great things. Now, your job is to help others do the same.
In Forbes.com, Renee Sylvestre-Williams has a great article about why employees leave the companies.
“Authors Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman said in their book, First Break All the Rules: What The Worlds’ Greatest Managers Do Differently, that people don’t leave jobs, they leave managers. If employees don’t get along with their managers, don’t like them or don’t respect them, they will leave a company despite a high salary or great benefits. A bad manager is a big factor in employee performance. A good manager, no matter the salary, will inspire loyalty.”
I am here to help. My job as a management coach is to help in two situations:
New Managers: Often times a new manager can struggle. Supervising people can be tough. With new managers I help you find your voice, answer your questions, and understand what it is that a manager does. For Entrepreneurs who are just hiring their first employees, this is where you may fit in!
Struggling Managers or those who want to fine-tune their skills: Being a good manager is critical. AND, it isn’t easy. Good managers are always looking for ways to grow and improve to get the most from their people, and feel good about the decisions they make.
Commitment
Coaching is a commitment to make change. The truth is that I won’t sell you short. If your struggles can be solved in one conversation, you don’t need a coach. If you want to work with a coach, it is critical that you make the commitment to real change, and that takes time. I feel very strongly that I won’t waste your time, or your money. In return, I only ask for your commitment. (FAQ) (Sign-up)
How we do it?
One on One coaching is done typically with weekly discussions. You work directly with your coach to explore the areas of life that you wish. During our conversations we will explore your challenges, your victories, and where you want to go. These sessions typically last about 1 hour.
Why?
Hiring a coach is a commitment to change. (You may be sensing a theme!) We all have times in our lives where we don’t know where to go. We can’t quite get things moving or we can’t quite find the right answer to our question(s). By hiring a coach, you are making a commitment to yourself to learn, grow, and explore. Coaching is fulfilling and wonderful. You will learn tools that will help in your life for decades to come. However, a coach is here to lead you down the path you wish to travel, not the path that I have traveled or the path that someone else has already worn.
Hiring a coach means you know you have it in you. You just need some direction and someone to help guide you on your path. As a coach, I am not looking for what is broken, but rather to find the successes that we can build on. Coaching is a very positive and supportive environment that allows you to explore what you do and how you do it to find what will work for you. As a coach, I want you to find your voice, to find what it is in life that fills you with the joy that makes your life fulfilling.
This is a question I get often. What’s the difference? A consultant is someone who has expertise in your area of business. They have experience and will tell you what to do. They have a way that has worked for them, and they will teach that method to you (or do it for you.)
A coach, on the other hand, helps you find your own way. I am not an expert on all areas of business. I enter our discussions with the knowledge that you are the expert. I am here to help you hone your skills and develop your voice and methods to make your business your own. I won’t be telling you what to do. I won’t be solving your problems. I will be helping you to solve your own problems and finding out what you can do that maintains the integrity of what you have become.
